Due to the increasing shortage of drinking water in the world, the professions for this are also becoming increasingly important. The Worldskills Competition "Water Technology" was launched in 2013 to promote education in this area. This enables the further training and networking of water and wastewater technicians and aquatronics engineers from all over the world.
Aquatronics technicians work in municipal and industrial water supply companies. They carry out their work independently on the basis of technical documents and regulations as well as on the basis of legal principles. They obtain information, plan and coordinate their work. They document their performance and take measures for quality assurance, safety, health and environmental protection in the workplace.
Whether for water treatment or wastewater treatment, the role of the aquatic technician is to observe, identify, log, report, maintain, check and repair equipment and processes throughout the plant and networks. To do this, they must have knowledge and experience in the fields of mechanics, chemistry, biology, electrical engineering, automation and environmental protection. Above all, health and safety is of paramount importance.
